The Nanaimo Multicultural Festival is happening on Saturday, June 24th in the Old City Quarter. Join us for a fun-filled day celebrating and sharing the diversity of cultures in our community.

BILL HELIN. A Canadian artist, teacher, and designer in the Northwest Coast style, Bill is a member of the Tsimshian First Nation of northwestern British Columbia.

Eric Harper. Born in a small town in Arkansas, raised in Portugal, schooled by the Gypsies in Spain and currently living amongst the in Canada, Eric brings a fusion of music never experienced before. Think, Dave Matthews meets Flamenco.

Jirong Huang and Laura Yu Wu. Jirong graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in erhu performance. He merges Western classical and contemporary music culture into Chinese music and continues to receive praise and acclaim from audiences and critics. Laur graduated from the Music School of Shanghai Philharmonic. Participated in many performances with Shanghai Philharmonic directed by famous conductors Tuhan Si and Yufeng Zheng in China

Caleb Hart. Growing up in the the beautiful twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, gave Caleb Hart the unique opportunity to meet people from all over the world and learn about their cultures. As he learned, he fell deeper and deeper in love with a wide variety of music: Gospel, Soul, Pop, Rock, Calypso, Soca and more than anything Reggae.

Mazacote Band. A hard-hitting west coast latin dance band, playing horn-driven New York salsa dura and beats from Colombia, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. Based out of Vancouver, Canada, the band features the captivating voice of Nicaraguan singer-songwriter David Lopez, and a groove-heavy band featuring Chris Couto on timbales, Carlos Arias on bass, Robin Layne on congas, Malcolm Aiken on trumpet and Niho Takase on keys. 

Alpha Yaya Diallo. Guitarist and singer Alpha Yaya Diallo, from Guinea in West Africa, is one of the hottest acts on the current world music scene. Diallo is a uniquely multi-talented artist. His dexterous acoustic and electric guitar-playing, with its fluid melodic lines and compelling grooves, places him in the front ranks of African axemen.
