Halloween in the OCQ

A person should always choose a costume which is in direct contrast to her own personality.”

Halloween fun is coming to the Old City Quarter in Nanaimo! Starting at 11am on Saturday, October 28, bring your goblins and ghosties to the historic Old City for spook-tacular events, tricks and treats all day long!

11am-3pm: Free Trick or Treating
Participating businesses invite you to knock on their doors for a frightfully delicious tour of the Old City Quarter on Saturday from 11-3pm. Costumed kiddos 12 and under can trick or treat for free, while parents may discover a new favourite shop along the way! Look for orange and black flags or balloons on the door of OCQ vendors and collect your sweet prize.

11am-1pm: Canine Costume Extravaganza!
Hauntingly hosted outside OCQ’s Woofles Barking Boutique, your costumed fur babies are invited to join in the Halloween fun! From 11-1pm, costumed canines (and any other pets!) will receive a free treat. Plus, Mark Corbett from Pet Pixels Photography will be on-site offering professional Halloween shots of your furry little monster. Don’t miss out on this boo-tiful opportunity to include your four-legged family members in the festivities!

11am-2pm: The Great Pumpkin Guessing Game
Find the Great Pumpkin in Heritage Mews on Saturday and guess how much it weighs. Send in your answer to the Facebook event page by 2pm, and the closest guesses will win an autumn-inspired gift from the Old City Quarter. Remember to guess in pounds, and keep in mind there can be more than one winner!

Mini Tarot Readings At Lobelia’s Lair
Be sure to stop by Lobelia’s Lair on Saturday to visit the witchful Carmen Waterman. She will be offering mini readings of tarot cards by donation (suggested donation of $10). All money raised will be given to the BC SPCA.

The Old City Quarter is Nanaimo’s premier destination for shopping, dining and relaxing. Take the opportunity this Saturday to explore what the OCQ has to offer! Stop in for lunch at one of the many restaurants, browse through specialty shops and boutiques, or grab a hot beverage at the local coffee shop. Whatever you are in the mood for, the Old City Quarter has something to satisfy you.
